Library

Archives

The library hosts two archives: the Istituto Tecnico Toscano (ITT) archive, and the Scuole Popolari “Gino Capponi” (SPC) archive.

ITT

The documents of the Istituto Tecnico Toscano – which today are kept at the Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica – are related to the collections and only partially to the activities of the institute. Unfortunately, the archive has been damaged and is not complete.

When the Istituto Tecnico Galileo Galilei – deriving from the ITT – divided into the current Istituto Tecnico per Geometri (Technical Institute for Surveyors) Gaetano Salvemini and the Istituto Commerciale (Commercial Institue) Galileo Galilei, the archive was moved to the institute’s offices, which kept the name. Today, the documents related to the beginning of the institute have not been found. Among the still existing documents, stored at the Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica, you can find the Personal status of the teachers.

SPC

It hosts documents belonged to the Scuole Popolari “Gino Capponi”, that for some time were kept in the offices of the Istituto Tecnico Galileo Galileo.
The archive is now under maintenance.
